Using Davenport machines, Gent Machine’s core competency has been 1/2″ diameter parts at high volumes for decades. The machine as a whole can make parts from 1/8″ to 7/8″ diameter but it’s sweet spot is 1/2″ diameter parts. At this size, with a low carbon steel and 5 spindles, you won’t find a more competitive machine than the Davenport.
Additionally, we have a large inventory of specialized tooling. This often eliminates the need to design and purchase tooling for new jobs, all at a cost savings to the customer.
Our competency expanded in 2006 with the addition of our Swiss style CNC machines. They are 7 axis capable of machining up to 1.25″ diameter and because of their guide bushing support–when compared to a conventional CNC–these machines take deep cuts and hold tolerances within .0002″ on precision ground stock. They are also the ideal machine for making bone screws, firing pins, and many other parts requiring exotic metals and turned and milled features.
Gent Machine also has an assembly department. We install o’rings, retention rings, sealing disks, check valve balls and pins, and press fits. We can assemble parts manually and even have automated processes in place for long running jobs.
Beyond machining and assembly, we have a wide range of sources for secondary processes and finishing, such as:
- plating
- anodizing
- passivation
- black oxide
- heat treat
- grinding
- thread patch/sealant
- vibratory finishing
- eddy current testing
- destructive and non-destructive testingt
- deburring – thermal and electrochemical
Last but not least we use a visual sorting machine to sort parts 100%. A bowl feeder pushes parts on to a turntable which presents parts to two cameras. The cameras measure the internal diameters and outer diameters for dimensional compliance.
